Oh fuck i'm really going to be on TV in Portugal
I really didn’t exepct to have any updates to post here for a while. Not much happed since the last one. No comedy. Little bit of films stuff here and there. Mostly focused on work. And then BAM - I get a text message that says “it’s finally happening”. “It” in this case is a little acting part I did last year, which is finally going to be on TV. Oh Fuck.
So I still have no clue how my part fits into the show at all really. I showed up and acted out a bunch of silly scenes with another person. That was it, and that was pretty much the extent of what I knew about the show. The little character I played. I was supposed to be this “conspiracy theorist guru” person who had like - different conspiracy beliefs to my co-actress. American girl. Very cool. I swear there’s this weird American frequency that just feels different. It feels like snorting a line of pure optimism and riding that vibe down a rainbow into a needle covered alleyway because fuck reality. Some people are just ready to dive in and make the best of any sitation. We’re gonna get shit done and we’re gonna have a great time while we do it. And she dove the fuck in and it was a lot of fun. Everything we did was just silly. I have no other way to describe it. I can’t imagine how any of it fits into the narrative they have. But at least now I have a summary of the episode I’m in! They even stuck my face on the show episode cover. There’s a link to the programming page for it here. Fucking wild bruh. Let’s read what the summary says.
Which Google translates to:
A fictional screenwriter (someone used to creating imaginary worlds) does a thorough research and ends up creating a ridiculous conspiracy theory, just to test, and prove, how easy it is to manipulate information and spread rumors, fake news and other nonsense in which people believe, without thinking (or googling) twice.
Okay so it makes a bit more sense now cause the series is called “A fish out of water”. A fictional screenwriter is doing research on conspiracy theories and how they propigate. Actually now i’m realizing the program itself has some text and I don’t need to guess here. lemme copy the series details. Cause this is apparently one episode in some series.
It says:
Realizadores: Frederico Miranda, Sebastian Bolenius, Miguel Leão, Emanuel Caetano, Pedro Carvalhinho, Luca Piazzi, Miguel Diogo, Telmo Vicente, Catarina Ricci, Juanjo Ordorika, Rui Major, Ricardo Jesus, Leonor Loureiro, Frank Saalfeld.
Which translates to:
An accidental expert looking for answers
A philosopher may be the right person to discuss the meaning of life, but what about the meaning of traffic in big cities? A pastry chef has the right creativity to solve problems in the structure of a wedding cake, but what opinions will he have about the infrastructure of a third bridge over the Tagus? In each program a person is removed from his element and challenged to face a real problem. It is a fish out of water looking for answers. An accidental specialist.
Oh gosh that makes so much more sense. So they take an expert from something and task them to do investgative work into a thing they don’t really know about. And I guess my character is a visual part of the story that gets told? Bruh we were shooting this for hours how funny would it be if I just got cut down to a single clip. Like 3 seconds long. That would be hilarious.
The name of the series is apropos beacuse I’m not a fucking actor. I have no business taking up TV time from people who kwow what they’re doing. Like legit this is is probably gonna be mad cringe on national television. Why the fuck did I go and do that?
It would be SO me to start and kill my acting career in the same show cause I said fuck it and decided to wing it. And I showed up high. I’m still not sure if that made it better or worse. Probably helped with the crazed conspiracy guru look though. Ah well, fuck it, let’s see what happens. I had a lot of fun and some of the scenes were very funny. Like it was hard not laughing through some of them because of how silly it all was. I’m not much of a conspiracy theorist. There’s enough conspiracies that come with receipts, so no need to make shit up. But i’m gonna be one on TV playing one. Feels weird.
For now this fish is gonna get back in the water and just keep swimming.
