I'm doing more acting for short films in Lisbon

I did a couple more short films here in Lisbon. Again with Lee making all that film magic happen. He had a couple of ideas for shorts, and we finally set a day to try them out this past Monday. We filmed this much longer film that e wrote up a while back. And then he re-wrote it, then wrote it once again. Because me and Hussene, the other actor, kept picking apart the script.

That has to be so fucking frustrating when you’re writing something, and there’s a bunch of people involved with opinions. And I’m sure a lot of my views are terrible cause I never wrote a fuckin script. That shit must be tough. But he seems to have fun doing this stuff, and we’re all good at sharing our ideas and feedback in a supportive way. So dope shit ends up happening fast, and we were able to knock out a second mini short film after filming the first one.

Comedy is different cause nobody gets to judge my writing until I go out and say it in front of a room full of people. I mean, it’s not the best time to find out that something I wrote is stupid, or offensive, or generally doesn’t make any sense at all. But you get that instant feedback.

And Lee was able able to knock out a rough cut of it the same night. Fucking blazing dedication to this shit, man. We improvised most of the mini-short ideas on the spot. We didn’t have a script. Just a general sense that it would be funny to pull a power cable out of my beard. IThe milk cream on my face was not my idea. And I was like, “don’t make it look like someone nutted on my face. It’s supposed to look like I’m foaming at the mouth.”. And they made it look exactly like someone nutted in my face. And that’s life sometimes.

I can’t wait to see the longer film we did. It’s a lot more complicated script-wise, but I’ll have to see what kind of magic Lee can do with it. He edited the cell phone short incredibly well, so I’m looking forward to it.

If things go well, we might do a lot more of these in 2020, which would be awesome. I’m having fun with short films in Lisbon. I’m not a big movie person, but this short film stuff is growing on me.
